CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 5, 2007 -- Endeca Technologies, Inc., an enterprise information access software company, today announced that its chief executive officer, Steve Papa, has been named as a finalist by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP for the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2007 Awards in New England. Awards are given to entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
Papa was selected from more than 80 nominations in the New England area by a panel of judges comprising local community and business leaders. Winners will be announced at a gala event on Thursday, June 14th at the Westin Waterfront in Boston.
Papa founded Endeca in 1999 after recognizing the potential for innovative technologies to solve the long-standing class of business problems that stem from information overload. Under his leadership, Endeca has become one of the fastest growing software companies in the world, a widely recognized leader in the Information Access market, and was recently named the fastest growing private company in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal. Prior to Endeca, Papa was an early team member of Inktomi, the pioneer in large-scale parallel Web search, and worked at Teradata, the world leader in large-scale structured data warehouses. He holds a B.S. in Operations Research and Economics from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
"We've strived to foster an entrepreneurial culture at Endeca and have always sought employees who thrive under those conditions. It's this ability to retain the energy and enthusiasm of a start up that set us apart from the competitors and fueled our rapid growth from a specialized challenger into a recognized market leader in a matter of a few short years," said Steve Papa, chief executive officer of Endeca. "This achievement is really a recognition of our larger, ever growing team, and we are extremely proud that Ernst & Young has recognized our commitment to continued innovation."
Award Recipients in the New England Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year program to be named from this list of Finalists will be eligible to participate at the National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Program in Palm Springs, California on November 17, 2007. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards program celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and continues to recognize the leaders and visionaries who are creating and building world-class businesses.
