CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — May 30, 2008 — Endeca Technologies, Inc., an information access software company, today announced that Forrester Research, Inc. has recognized Endeca as a leader in enterprise search, according to the new Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Search, Q2 2008.  In this evaluation, Forrester ranked Endeca as a leader based on its current offering, the Endeca Information Access Platform (IAP), and gave Endeca top scores for company and product strategy. A complimentary copy of the report is available at http://endeca.com/forresterwave.html.

Beyond keyword search, the Endeca IAP offers a broad array of capabilities for integrating, querying and analyzing unstructured content and structured data.  Based on this, Endeca and the Endeca IAP were also featured by Forrester in the recent report, Search + BI = Unified Information Access, and the Forrester Wave: Information-as-a-Service, Q1 2008, which covers an emerging and evolving software market that, according to Forrester, "overlaps several existing markets such as data integration, data replication, data availability, enterprise search, real-time business analytics, and application development tools."

In the Enterprise Search report the lead author, Leslie Owens, states that "[Endeca's] Information Access Platform is architected to support searching relational schemas (databases, data warehouses) and non-relational schemas (XML, RSS, documents). The flexibility of the underlying MDEX engine has prompted Endeca to move into new markets like business intelligence, and to win customers who want to leverage the product's superior faceted classification capabilities."

"Endeca has always sought to expand the way people explore, find and analyze information to support informed decision making, and has played a pioneering role in expanding the very definition of search," said Steve Papa, chief executive officer of Endeca.  "Today, our more than 500 customers, as well as our network of partners, are helping Endeca to accelerate innovation and create competitive advantages by moving beyond simple retrieval of information and creating new visibility into their wealth of information assets."

The advanced capabilities of the Endeca IAP — including data integration, Guided Navigation®, analytics, search, visualization, geospatial filtering and more — help workers, customers and partners inform daily decision making by presenting related information in context. As a result, organizations can unlock latent value of current information investments (enterprise applications, enterprise and Web content management systems, transactional databases, data warehouses, etc.) and rapidly deploy new classes of intuitive information access applications to a wide audience of users.

These capabilities are used to bring together millions of documents, CAD drawings, database records and third party content at the world's top aerospace and defense, and automotive manufacturers to inform design engineering decisions and improve supply chain efficiencies.  Of the 18 agencies that make up the US intelligence community, 12 use multiple instances of the Endeca IAP to integrate and analyze terabytes of human, image and signals intelligence, spanning unstructured media and content to web pages to structured intelligence databases.  More than 200 retailers — including more than 40 of the top 100 online retailers — use Endeca to power their multi-channel shopping experience, create and manage product merchandising and manage the back office and front office operations.
